Our Story

DermAestetix’ owner and operator Lordly Kaiuha was working as a Reintegration Officer when DermAestetix’ mission came to him. 

As a Reintegration Officer, Lordly’s role was to support people newly released from prison with reintegrating into the world outside, helping them secure work and a place to live. In many cases, the clients Lordly was tasked with helping had visible gang- or prison tattoos that proved to be a significant obstacle to the successful building of a new life.

Lordly soon realised that to succeed in building a new life for themselves, a person needed to be able to shed the outward signs of their old lives, or judgment from those around would hold them back. 

Tattoo Removal services were available at plenty of upmarket clinics, but in most cases, either the exorbitant cost or the fear of judgment stopped people from seeking out these clinics for treatment. 

Lordly and his wife Connie, a teacher, felt a strong desire to remove this obstacle for Lordly’s clients, and so, the idea of DermAestetix was born. The pair purchased a medical grade Q-Switched ND:Yag laser and underwent rigorous certification training to allow them to operate the machine safely and successfully, then set out to help Lordly’s clients.

Before long, DermAestetix built a reputation for their quality work and heart-centred, supportive approach to tattoo removal. Their clientele expanded to include people from all walks of life with a diverse range of tattoos and reasons for wanting them removed.

And as the Yag laser is capable of much more than just tattoo removal, Lordly and Connie soon decided to train in the wide range of skin services the machine offers. Willing family members, as well as Connie and Lordly themselves, volunteered to receive the treatments, so the DermAestetix team could determine for themselves which treatments were most effective before adding them to their client offerings.

Today, DermAestetix offers skin services ranging from tattoo removal to skin rejuvenation, wart removal, skin tag removal, skin resurfacing, acne treatment, hair removal, and more using both the Q-Switched ND:Yag Laser and Triple Diode Laser.

WINZ Approved

A source of pride to the DermAestetix team is, they are WINZ-approved for tattoo removal services, meaning that those of our clients needing this life-changing service but lacking the means to afford it are able to access funding approval through WINZ. Over the years, we have helped so many wonderful clients make a fresh start without visible reminders of a past they wanted to leave behind.
